Heather grew up surrounded by storytelling, literature, theatre and music. When she was very young, she was very fortunate to be taken by her mother on many research field trips to listen to storytellers and tradition bearers from both Scots and Gaelic tradtion – early experiences which showed her the importance of the folktale within different cultures. Heather is also a fine musician and her storytelling is often enriched by music from the clarsach, or Scottish traditional harp. She has performed and led workshops all over Scotland and abroad, including Iceland, Norway and the USA.
