The Story of Daorghlas and the Smithy
Rev. Norman MacDonald
The Rev. Norman MacDonald from Skye tells this tale of the Fianna – a fierce band of warriors led by Fionn MacCumhail that roamed around Ireland and Gaelic Scotland in ancient times. Tales of their adventures make up most of what is known as the ‘Fenian Cycle’ in Celtic mythology and oral tradition. Daorghlas was fastest of the Fianna according to Skye Tradition.
The story was recorded in 1956 by the School of Scottish Studies. You can listen to the original tape on the online archive resource Tobar an Dualchais: Track ID 70440
