James Spence tells a personal anecdote from his school days in Jeddart – or Jedburgh – in the Scottish Borders, about a metal work teacher affectionately known as Thunderguts. He then tells a story about a minister from Minto, a small town near Hawick, and a man who could  teach dogs to talk. These humourous tales are told in Spence’s rich Borders dialect.
