Fairies

Throughout Scottish history, people have believed in fairies; at one time, they were a part of everyday life. Folk belief suggests they are like humans but slightly smaller, but defintiely not tiny creatures with wings. They come in different forms, have different temperaments but all covet what humans have and can create. They can be friendly to you or unleash their wrath if you do not respect their wishes. In Gaelic, they were known as the Sìth (pronounced shee).
