An acclaimed author, bàrd and storyteller, Martin MacIntyre is fluent in English and Gaelic. He sees storytelling as an integral component of the holistic ceilidh which should naturally include stories, song, music and poetry, and to which everyone can contribute. His own stories include Ossianic wonder tales, stories based on the historical traditions of the Scottish Highlands, and real-life stories of a contemporary nature. Martin also writes and tells his own stories. In 2003, his collection of short stories Ath-Aithne (Re-acquaintance) won The Saltire Society First Book Award and was later translated into French. His 2018 novel Samhradh ’78 (The Summer of ’78) was longlisted for the Saltire Fiction Book of the Year.
