The Story of Feathers and Plumage
Catherine Dix from the Isle of Berneray tells the story of Gìgean and Guaigean who were out cutting the peats. Keen for a cup of tea, they went to the well for water – but could only find a sieve to carry the water. The birds offer some advice, some of it more helpful than the rest!
The story was recorded in 1976 by the School of Scottish Studies. You can listen to the original tape on the online archive resource Tobar an Dualchais: Track 63175
