Sheila Stewart tells a story about a pregnant woman who has a strange experience after her husband is given a pig’s head by the local butchers. A Traveller family, who made their living as tinsmiths and hawkers, were camped out near Dunkeld, pitching their bow-tent on the edge of the village. Hawking was job usually done by the women, but this time, given his wife’s condition, the husband tries his hand at selling their wares to buy food. The Travellers say that this is a true story.
